Walt Hollis at the pottery wheel in his studio

A one-man pottery studio

Every piece passes through Walt’s hands.

Thrown on the wheel, glazed, and fired in small batches — the slow way.

Meet Walt

The shop

Retired machinist. Now he throws pots.

Walt spent a working life making metal parts to the thousandth of an inch. These days his hands are in clay instead. He started throwing to keep busy after he retired — now the kiln runs most evenings, and every burner that leaves the shop, he made and packed himself.

the mountain burner with smoke falling down the cliff into the basin

The Mountain Burner · $27.99

Smoke that falls instead of rises.

Light a cone at the peak and the smoke spills down the cliff into the basin, the way water would. Stoneware-look resin, hand-finished. Only three in the first batch.
